| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Blacklist** | An on-chain list of wallet addresses blocked from all token interactions, regardless of whitelist status. Used for sanctions compliance, regulatory freeze orders, and legal holds. |
| **Burning** | Permanently destroying fund tokens when a redemption is processed. Executed by the Chainlink DTA smart contract. |
| **CCIP** | Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol — Chainlink's protocol for secure, compliant token transfers across different blockchain networks. |
| **Chainlink DTA** | Digital Transfer Agency — Chainlink's audited smart contract suite that handles on-chain transfer agency logic including minting, burning, and investor record management. |
| **Daily Cut-Off** | The time by which orders must be submitted to be processed within that business day. Orders received after cut-off are processed the following business day. |
| **Fund Token Contract** | A smart contract deployed by Synthesys for each fund, governing token issuance, transfers, and the investor whitelist. |
| **KYC/AML** | Know Your Customer / Anti-Money Laundering — the regulatory verification process required before an investor can be whitelisted on the fund token contract. |
| **Maker/Checker** | The dual-approval model used in Mint. The Maker creates or records an action; the Checker independently reviews and approves before execution. No single party can act unilaterally. |
| **Mint** | Synthesys's tokenised fund management platform providing the UI, API, and integration layer for Transfer Agents and Fund Administrators. |
| **Minting** | Creating new fund tokens when a subscription is processed. Executed by the Chainlink DTA smart contract. |
| **NAV** | Net Asset Value — the per-unit price of the fund, published daily by the Fund Administrator. |
| **Pinetree** | The master distributor on the Synthesys Network. Processes all sub-distributor subscription and redemption orders. |
| **Smart NAV Oracle** | A Chainlink oracle service that delivers the fund's NAV on-chain for use in token quantity calculations. Secured by Chainlink's decentralised oracle network. |
| **Sub-Distributor** | An authorised distribution partner. Routes orders via the Synthesys Network API and manages onward distribution to end investors. |
| **Synthesys Network** | The distribution API layer through which sub-distributors submit orders and receive notifications. |
| **Transfer Agent (TA)** | The regulated entity responsible for maintaining investor records, processing subscriptions/redemptions, and managing the on-chain whitelist. |
| **Whitelist** | An on-chain list of KYC-verified wallet addresses authorised to hold the fund's tokens. Enforced at the smart contract level. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://synthesys-2.gitbook.io/synthesys-docs/support/glossary.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
